Our latest achievement being FREE homemade blackberry jam! There's no catch, honest! We picked the blackberries on an early morning walk in our local forest, brought them home to wash and boil, added sugar, simmered and poured in an empty jar, wallah!

There's something very satisfying about creating something for free! I'm interested to see if any of you are as frugal with food as I am? Any creations you'd like to share?
Well done on your Jam! I made my first batch of jam from my peaches in May and I was so pleased, as for some reason I was terrified of jam making. I remember my Grandmother making it as a child and she used to have saucers everywhere doing wrinkle tests and use to make it sound like a science!! I love Blackberry picking too. We also go blackberry picking when in the UK in August so we can squeeze in a Blackberry and apple pie while we get the chance.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much! I felt the same, I assumed that you had to have an array of fancy ingredients and pots and pans at the go! But I'm a veggie and live simply and just sort of experimented. Just fruit and sugar and cooked it slowly until it thickened and then poured into a clean jar. That's so lovely that you still go blackberry picking when you're in the UK to bake a pie! Must make a wonderful memory each time you go!!
